new school year, new school

Relief. Yes, I think that's the word I'm reaching for. It is so nice to have everyone back in school and back on a schedule. The first day of school was today, August 8. Sundale starts a week earlier than most because they take a week off in February. For the Farm Show. That's what happens when you go to a country school! Julia had to stay home the first day to wait for the telephone call giving her the green light. Fortunately we got the call early that afternoon, so we went down to the school to see her classroom and meet her teacher so she would know what was happening the following day. And we're off! It's the beginning of a new school year, and I'm so excited for them to be at this new school. Especially Bailey. Everytime I thought about him going to the local junior high, it felt like my stomach was twisting itself into a knot. And this will be great for all the kids. We leave earlier in the morning for school, but so far it's working out well.

Is Collin going to Pre-school? Libby's backpack is bigger than she is.

Collin isn't going this year, but maybe next year-there is actually a preschool right on the school grounds. He just wanted his backpack on to be like the big kids. Fortunately, Libby's backpack is the rolling variety!;)

Are the kids going to a scool for preschool - 12?
Is far from where you are?
What made you choose to send them there?
I hope they have fun. I have heard great thing about school that go straight through high school. We do not have any around here.

The school is K-8 (there is also a preschool on campus) and it's in Tulare, a city about 15 minutes from where we live. We already knew several families who had their kids enrolled and heard that the school environment is excellent. They don't tolerate much rubbish there. The school also has better test scores than the one the kids were attending. We were actually on the waiting list for only 4 days, while other families have been on for months and months. I'm still not sure how we managed to get in so quickly, but it has definitely been a blessing for our family! And even though it's further away, most mornings Owen can actually take them to school because he drives right by the school on his way to work. I only have to take them if his schedule varies due to meetings, etc.
